Hi! Looks like we both have the same problem. Mine is 1995 EX Auto 4-door sedan. I was also thinking of just rebuilding the transmission because I really value my car and it's been paid-off (no more dept). I just did some upgrade on it like the mag wheels, suspensions and the paint job. Just for comparison, I tried to call the dealership and ask how much it cost to rebuild the transmission. The service manager told me it's better just to replace it with brand new transmission that cost about $2500. I am not sure if it's wise to spend that amount of money vs getting a new honda car which is more fuel efficient but there's a monthly payment involved. What do you think? Thanks.

swap it to a manual transmission, may be? Find a mechanic you can trust and ask him...me and my mechanic are working on my tranny and I'm not paying a lot of money....but my is a manual tranny.

find a used tranny for much less. shipped, at www.car-parts.com Found several of the Automatic tranny's there in good (rated by the yard they are coming from) condition for less than 200 dollars, plus shipping.
Good luck.

what labor is involved in a auto - 5speed swap? do i need to pull the motor? the car is already a 95 with 90K on it. i can get a newer civic at the auction so i will get an awsome price on a newer 5-speed

I know you are going to get a 5-speed swap right? how much were you quoted? my price was $900 and then he recomended a performance clutch and that was $400. what kind of clutch should i got with. i dont want a super stiff clutch pedel either. i may go turbo, i just want a cluth that can handel some later plans.

I wouldn't pay 400 for a clutch if I do not already have serious power...I just paid under 200 for a clutch and a lightweight flywheel...
