Default Should I buy??? need your help-URGENT

Thinking about buyin a 2002 honda civic with 46K miles. My only doubt is that I have been hearing a lot of transmission problems occur in these year but I want to know from your experiences if that is because people don't do maintainance or because it is a design flaw??

1. I want to know if the Auto transmission slips because of poor maintainace (no auto fluid changes?)

2. If the owner hasn't done this maintainace, (30K is recommended from what I've been reading here) is 15K mi too late is this transmission doomed in the near future??

Thanks in advance!!!!

If your really worried about that I would test drive it first and see how it switches through gears especially at higher rpm's. Then when you get it do a fluid change immediately.

I've personally never heard that rumor, I have heard that the suspensions in the later models are a lot cheaper and go quicker but I don't wanna scare you....

I have heard that (that it is a design flaw),but do your research (I haven't).

Older one's are better anyway though.

I heard about the bad auto trans on msn.com/autos in their reliablilty section as well as the owner reviews for that year. I did test drive it and it shifted smooth, no shock or harsh engagement. The test drive wasnt that long.
Anymore feedback would be awesome.

Thanks
