if its poping out of gear than the only thing it could be is bent shift forks, that is the only thing that will make it pop out of gear.... when you "grind your gears" you arnt actualy grind any gears, you are smashing the blocking plate and dog teeth on the gear( not the actual teeth).
I had one that wouldnt stay in any of the gears at the top of the shift pattern. 1st, 3rd, and 5th. it wasnt the shift forks, it was the bearings on the input shaft. they were so worn that the whole shaft was moving enough to keep it from fully engaging the gears. that was fun.

oh, and if your clutch is getting old, replace it, that might help, but youll probably be needing a transmission in the next year or so.

I got a new transmission 2 years ago. The popping just started occuring a few months ago. But only in 3rd gear. Only happens 1 out of 100 times thou. So, it's not constant...but when it does happen its annoying.
I havent tried draining the Manual Transmission Fluid yet...I'll try that and see what happens....
