Default LSD for y21 gearbox

Top marks to amanda for starting this topic. Good to see!.

Ok I had the offer of a lsd for my EG6 civic. Im told that it is a "Civic type R JDM torque biasing diff"

First question is, is a torque biasing diff a LSD?

Second question is will it fit into a Y21 gearbox?

Guy selling it is unsure, but did tell me that it would fit a Integra type R DC2.

Can you guys help out? Dont want to hand out £250 to find that it doesnt work.

k, 250 lbs is a pretty good deal, but the type r diff wont fit into the B16a tranny (thats ys1 right?) trust me, i know from experience. it will only work if you get the type r final drive gearset. it costs roughly 800 USD from honda, and about 450 USD from most shops that sell it. youre better off getting the whole trans from a type r, then sell yours. and yeah, a torque biasing diff is an LSD. oh, and paying for it to later find out it doesnt work is not the worst part. its getting your tranny torn apart, then finding out it wont work.[:@]

Thanks sacicons,
Saved me alot of cash and hassle!
Yes, I think you guys ys1 box is the same as our y21 box. And our integra type r is called a gsr over there, is that right?
It would have been a real pain it the **** (fanny!!) to go to those lenghts just to find out that it was no good.[sm=boohoo.gif]
Will be lookn for a itr (gsr) box to suit.
Thanks for the help

Actually, we don't have an ITR-equivalent over here (besides the occasional ITR import). The GSR doesn't quite stack up.

huh? we have the ITR here.... at least we did till the DC5 came out, but we got the DC2 type r. and no, the GSR gearbox isnt equipped with an lsd, at least not in the US. some jap ones are though. but its a 2-way diff, not the 1.5 in the ITR. get the 1.5. its more of a torque-biasing diff, and the 2-way is more of a spool, not quite, but its close to a spool (locker)
