The safest way for the car is just to floor it. There are faster ways, such as neutral drops or power braking, but those are both very hard on the tranny, especially neutral dropping. If you want your car to last, I would just stick to flooring it.

good looking out bro the last thing on my mind is blowing my tranny...but is it safe to start off with the car on D-1 riding it to about 7000rpm letting go of the gas and shifting to D-2 to around 7000rpm then letting go of the gas and shifting to D....what do u thiink?

Left foot on brake, right foot on gas. Put it up to about 3 - 3.5k RPMs, then pull your left foot up.

*THIS IS NOT GOOD FOR YOUR CAR, IN NO WAY DOES FORTY04 RECOMMEND DOING THIS*

But, it will give you a good jump off the line

neutral dropping is like somebody hitting you in the face with a bat to an auto tranny.

I think there's quite a bit of debate about whether or not that's any faster than just flooring it in D4 and letting the car do the shifting. I honestly can't say.

@ Forty - 3000-3500? My car starts moving at 1500-2000 even before I added the charger...

Sounds like you should have purchased a manual transmission. Just floor it!!!

It dosnt matter how low gear you start off it, the tranny is going to go through that gear anyway.

If you let off the gas you'll slow down... that's the thing about auto's... you don't have to let off at all. Clicking up through the gears like a tiptronic is fine, won't do any damage. But, you have a D1? I thought it went 2 -> D3 -> D? And, if you're flooring it, it won't shift until it's at 7,000 anyways, but racing I could see an advange if you pulled it into 2 when going into a corner so when you exit it doesn't have to downshift to accelerate. I think D3 will still upshift so that's not really an advantage unless you're over 60-70 mph.

oh my god, racing an auto is like taking a crap with your pants on. I have an auto tranny, and its dreaded till the swap. I believe slaping the gears from 1st all the way up to D is faster by a bit. I yet have to run a g-tech on that. Also, have your kickdown cable tightened, when your just going like 45mph, then when you hammer it, it will have a quicker downshift time. When racing from a line, I start in 1st, one foot on the gas, on the the brake, get it to about 2-2.5k then let off the brake and hammer the gas at the same time, I usually shift at about 7000k. Well, still, racing an auto is plain stupid even though I have to deal with one for now.
