Hey, how do you know if you're riding the clutch? I have been driving manuals for a long time. I just never understood what riding the clutch meant. All I know is that it is bad for the clutch. Sorry for the idiotic question.

ive pretty much gotten used to driving my 5 speed now, it goes like clockwork, and its been a week and a half

I'm no expert on this subject, but here's what I know. When launching, one should rev the engine moderately while releasing the clutch. You should be able to feel when the clutch begins to engage, at which point you rev further and release the clutch quickly. Heat builds up when the clutch is only partially engaged significantly lessening its life. I own a '96 cx, but I don't have an owner's manual for it yet. Can anyone tell me the recommended shifting parameters mentioned in the manual? Right now I just listen to the engine. I do up to 25 in 1st, 40 in 2nd, 60 in 3rd, 90 in 4th, and have had it up to 105 in 5th.
