Trace the two wires to their source to see if they were damaged or broken.

I traced the connector back to its source and its not broken anywhere.
Just want to clarify that following 2 pics are of the same connector. One is from under the hood and other is of the same connector pulled up by opening the hood.

Can you find where it plugs in to the linear solenoid on the transmission?

Yes I found the shift solenoid and linear solenoid but that was only visible from under the car near the front right wheel and interestingly a 2 pin connector with red & white wire was connected to it, shift solenoid was connected to a 2 pin connector with blue & green wires.

Now I am confused then what is the dnagling connector which I see and why D4 code is 16.
Am I even looking at the right place for linear solenoid, I looked near front right wheel.

Ok I figured it out, the connected 2P connector which I see near shift solenoid is the Mainshaft Speed sensor.
I will look near shift solenoid to find Linear solenoid also tomorrow morning.

I would love to do diagnosis but I dont have all the tools and I want to troubleshoot it myself before going to mechanic because I like problem solving. Now its like a interesting puzzle for me which I need to solve.

Buy a digital multimeter. They are not that expensive.

We can't help you if you won't do the troubleshooting.
