Changing Transmission Fluid With Bad Synchros
Ok so my third gear synchro is going bad (grinds going in some of the times). I first took my car up to Firestone and they told me not to change the transmission fluid or it could mess things up. Then I was told by Jiffy Lube this wasn't true. I'm not sure how much either of these people know so... what do you guys thing? Should I do it or no? I have probably about 95,000 miles on my car so it's about time for one but I don't want to do it if it will mess things up obviously.

penzoil synchromesh is basically the same thing and can be found at most auto parts stores. and the first shop that told you not to change it should never work on a car again. sometimes transmission grinding can be caused by old mtf to begin with.
