96-00 auto trannie

hi all , my 96 cx d16y7 auto trannie is a dogger , is it possible to find a ex or si auto trans 4 a swap? and would i need the ecu?or any suggestions would be great,thx,,i know ,i know go man,,so besides that suggestion any others ,lol, thx

Well, an ex tranny would do you good, but you might as well just swap in a whole y8 (ex) engine. The Si's did not come in automatic. I'm not too familiar with the CX, but I imagine it has the same tranny that the lx and dx share. Best bet, get the y8.

ok the si doesnt come in man but wat about the ex? is the gear ratio different? ,and cause its easier 4 me right now to put in a auto,with bettr gaerin then a full swap,,but yes im lokkin at the y8 swap very soon. thx

Yeah, the Z6 is better than the Y8 imo. I couldn't tell you for a 6th gen auto. For the 5th gen tho they're almost identical.

so if i put in a y8 to keep same obd,,do i have to change the ecu? ,? wil it be lookin 4 the v-tec ? cause the y7 doesnt hav one.does the ecu change the gears on an auto,or is it off vacune? thx

If you swap your motor to a Y8, I think it will still run on the Y7 ECU, but not well. Vtec won't work and the fuel/timing maps won't be ideal. If you just change the tranny you won't need to change the ECU.
