Default 5 speed tranny interchange

i have a 2000 civc ex 1.6 sohc vtec. i need to know what years and models will interchange with this tranny

You can use any trans from 92-00 Civic EX or lower model. I suggest trying to find one from a 96-00 EX, but one from a 92-95 EX will also be a good trans for you. All models below the EX will give you better fuel economy but the don't put down as much power.

Don't use an HX transmission. It's CVT, so totally different.

Aren't CVTs only on auto trannys? This guy needs a manual.

Just making sure. In the past, someone on this forum bought the wrong transmission because we didn't specify "no HX" in our answers.

ok so i got a tranny ot of a 99 civic. its all working good but the main gasket between the casing and bell housing is leaking at the bottom..how hard of a fix is this? i know there r onle like 8 or 10 bolts but does the case just slide off or will internals come apart? thanx for any feed back..its a pretty good leak

Call me a shmuck but I had a hell of a time trying to separate the housing. I did eventually, but I wasn't trying to repair the trans, I was just trying to get some of the gears for my desk. There's a writeup somewhere in the internets on it. Search for "replace input shaft bearing civic" and see what you find.

If the trans has high miles it might be a good idea to replace the input shaft bearing if you have the housing already apart.
