5 speed tranny interchange

You can use any trans from 92-00 Civic EX or lower model. I suggest trying to find one from a 96-00 EX, but one from a 92-95 EX will also be a good trans for you. All models below the EX will give you better fuel economy but the don't put down as much power.

ok so i got a tranny ot of a 99 civic. its all working good but the main gasket between the casing and bell housing is leaking at the bottom..how hard of a fix is this? i know there r onle like 8 or 10 bolts but does the case just slide off or will internals come apart? thanx for any feed back..its a pretty good leak

Call me a shmuck but I had a hell of a time trying to separate the housing. I did eventually, but I wasn't trying to repair the trans, I was just trying to get some of the gears for my desk. There's a writeup somewhere in the internets on it. Search for "replace input shaft bearing civic" and see what you find.
If the trans has high miles it might be a good idea to replace the input shaft bearing if you have the housing already apart.
