Winter Tires - Toronto
Hi,
I bought a new Honda Civic DX-G sedan, 3 months back. With winter approaching Toronto, I would like to change to winter tires.
Which are the best tires my civic can have for this winter? I wouldnt mind paying upto 1000 change for a set of 4.
These are the 2 brand names I found after researching the net.Are these any good?
Nokian Hakkapeliitta RSi & Michelin X-Ice Xi2
I also heard that Canadian Tire is the last place you go to, for winter tires. Is that true?
Please advise.
Thanks.
Ron

Hey, I am from the Windsor area so welcome fellow Canadian.
As far as winter tires go, you need ot look at what you will be dealing with.
Do you get a lot of ice or is it more a problem with lots of snow and slush?
As far as tires go I recommend either the bridgestone Blizzak WS60 which should run you about 160-180ish each plus install or the Yokohama ICEguard tires. which should prob run 135-145 each +install.
Either one is good really. The Bridgestones have alot of research and etc behind them and the yokohamas are used in the Canadian rally circuit for snow races.
As far as where you go, find a store that specializes in tires and wheels that has a good reputation.
Aslo are you putting these tires on your base rims or are you buying a new set of steel rims to mount these on?
Also call the Honda dealer and see what they recommend.
personally i woudl go with the yokohamas, but that is just me.
