RE: TIRE SIZE!!
ummm ok 205 40 17 will fit..barely but will fit but if i where you i'll go with some 16's. 17 are too heavy too big for a small engine truste me this is what i had on before my car get stolen now i have 205 45 16 and the car feels more responsive i race the car on track and drive it everyday 17 YOU WILL feel every single pot hole in the streets. i would putt more rubber
now what kind of kumos are we talking about?
i would go with bfgoodrich g force kumos are great depend on which one and depend on every one some people like different tires and rubber

RE: TIRE SIZE!!
I have the exact setup you are looking at...tokico HP's with s-tech springs with 205/40/17 wheels. yes, the ride is a little rougher, but not where it's a total discomfort. the softness of the springs helps with easing that.
yeah, 205/40 have less rubber, so you will definately feel the difference if you are going from anything smaller. IMO, civics are slow, so no point in getting smaller tires for performance unless you are racing on the track. If you are going for looks, 17" i think looks the best with this setup.
Because the wheels are larger, you will notice that it will take you longer to brake and takes slightly more to accelerate. just giving you a heads up
