RE: max drop without rubbing
I can tell you're from the UK by your spelling of tires. Tyres is how they are spelled by Avon Tyre and I believe they are a UK company that has their tires made in Ohio at a Cooper factory.
Anyway, hopefully someone will answer your question.

RE: max drop without rubbing
Umm... mine's pretty low and I don't have rubbing issues (but I'm running a ton of negative camber)... I'm guessing I'm running about a 2.5" drop in front and 3.5" in back. As long as your wheel offset is right, you should be fine. Or maybe I just got lucky... I'm not really sure
