hows the install on struts or shocks on a scale of 1-10? (for a noob haha)
ehh, can range from easy to difficult, depending on the number of seized bolts, see below

The it is your rear struts....better to replace all 4 though if you are going to be doing autocross. also there are plenty of walk throughs on the site...just browse around. when you are driving down the road and hit a bump does the front bounce too or is it just your rear?

Yeah that kinda sucks cuz the rear install is a bitch. Technically it's very easy, but i had to sawsaw four bolts, and then twist the remaining threaded part through (the part that was stuck in the trailing arm). But if i could do it, you can too. I just started twisting bolts out and went from there and didn't have many problems. It's pretty simple once you take a look at it.

Rusted bolts can be made easier to deal with if you spray them with a penetrant like PB Blaster or Deep Creep and let it work. Shield anything that could be burned/detonated/melterd/damaged by heat. Then heat the boltsup with a propane torch to cherry redness and start wrenching. A grinder or Dremel with a thin cutoff wheel will make short work of the worst stucks if they're accessible.

Call your local dealers or search online for a Factory Service Manual. It's the same book the dealer service techs use and it's very detailed on things like replacing struts.

oh. and again here i go with another noob question.

is it the struts that make the suspension tight? or is it the springs?

i want the tightest suspension possible.. what should i shoot for?

kinda both, the springs make it firm, and the shocks keep the springs from bouncing back and forth infinitely, they dampen the spring.

I don't understand what you mean by asking what you should shoot for, but many different parts determine how tight your suspension is. Springs and struts in good condition will make your car feel more controlled than blown struts and sagging springs. Also check your bushings, control arms, balljoints, steering linkage, and any mounts for looseness/play/flex. If you replace your struts and your springs are still good, I'd look into anti-swaybars with poly bushings first, and then stiffen up the chassis with some strut tower braces. If you're really getting into upgrading the suspension, look at stiffer lightweight control arms with poly bushings. The less chassis flex and control arm flex you have, the more precisely you can tune your suspension by adjusting the springs, struts, and anti-swaybars. A stiffer ride through extremely firm springs and struts will not necessarily provide the best handling in all conditions. Some conditions may demand a firmer spring with a more compliant strut, or vice versa. Match your components to work well together for the conditions you drive in.

If you are into autocrossing I would highly suggest for you to get an adjustable shock!! I'm currently using KYB's adjustable shocks model AGX. I have the adjustable coilover springs so my ride was horrible before it go these shocks. They have four stiffness settings. That way you can put it on a stiff setting for autocrossing and something less stiff for normal driving. They are relatively inexpensive as far as shocks go. Otherwise, Tein makes some good adjustables too.

p.s. I you are from a place that gets snow, the bolts are going to fight you before they come out. Have another car available to get replacement bolts from the store if you break some off.

Good Luck!!

I live outside of chicago.. I know about snow. Hha. Its march and its supposed to snow on saturday (my birthday) yea I have another car to use if I need to. Maybe ill just get the bolts ahead of time how expensive are they? Would I be better off just seein if I break any?

From what I'm told.. I have adjustable coilovers. But I don't know how to use them.. Is it possible that they just need to be tightened and that would help my ride? At least for right now? I'm going to try to jack up the car here in the next couple of days n take some pictures so you guys might be able to help me out a little more.

Any instructions on how to adjust the coilovers would be amazing because when I looked at them... I can't figure out how.

Thanks guys.
