RE: I need a good tire.
the Goodyear GSD3 are the tires I have been looking into for a few months now. Iv read loads of reviews on them and found they are the best in the rain but tread life could be better. I guess its the price you pay right.

RE: I need a good tire.
If price is not an issue, the GSD3s cannot be beat. I have them on my other car and with aggressive driving I get about 16 - 18,000 miles on the drive wheels (that car has different diameter front and back tires, so they can't be rotated). However, they are nothing short of phenominal on dry and wet surfaces. In fact, driving in the rain is like driving on dry surfaces; it's uncanny that they stick so well. Any tire that can generate .84 gs on wet roads should be in the Guiness book of world records, IMO. Their tread pattern looks like those on the Toyo Proxies, but that's where the similarity ends. The GSD3s are superior to the Toyos.
So, what I advise is that if you put 12,000 + miles per year on your Civic, get the Avon 500s. You can get 205/50/15s for $60 each. That way, if you have to replace them every couple of years, you'd be out only $240.
Now if you don't rack up the miles too quickly and get to corner aggressively all the time, the GSD3s are a great choice. Unfortunately, the only 15-inch tire they offer is 195/50/15 and their 205/16/45s are $133 each at the Tirerack. That's fairly pricey when you compare to lesser-performing tires but again, it all depends on how hard you corner as to whether the extra cost is worth it.
