You can run 205/40/16 still but keep in mind, there are far less options in that size and your speedo will be off a lot more. In addition with less sidewall you will feel the bumps a lot more. Trust is correct in that 2-5/45/16 is reccomended for spupes and sedans.


Also, you are putting on just springs? what about your shocks? are you getting aftermarket shocks or just using your stock ones? (this is a no no btw)

Dose it snow where you live? if so you may want to get full adjustable coil overs so that you can jack it back up in the winter for better clearance.

Ok, i think ill go wit the s. techs and 205/45-16s. I actually have dropzone coilovers and shocks/struts on now. Boy what a mistake that was. Cheap aluminum sleeves got all nicked up to where i cant adjust it down anynore in the front right, horrible ride too. F--k this cheap junk. Im keeping the shocks/struts till they blow since there brand new then ill get some konis in there. Ya it does snow here in Pittsburgh but not bad. With a 2in drop snow driving wouldnt be too bad would it? I honestly hated the hassle of adjusting these dropzone coilovers so im thinking just solid springs...also, if i get my rear fenders rolled do i need to worry about running the negative camber with the s.techs and 45 series tires? Would that rub in the front with my offset? Thanks for all the help guys

 

I have a 97 hatch and the correct size (for 96-00) is 205/45/16. The 40-series tire would make the overall diameter too small and your speedometer would be off. Now my springs lowered the car 1.5", so I can't say whether the 205/45/16s would rub with a lower drop, but I do know the 45-series 16s keeps the correct tire diameter.

Also, I think a 1.5-inch drop is great for everyday driving when you have to deal with driveways, speed bumps, railroad tracks, etc. The slammed look is fine if you don't have to drive onto or off of sloped driveways.

 

The difference between 205/40 and 205/45 is minimal. I have had both. And the speedo is only off like 1-3 MPH. But I know that if I had 205/45 tires I would be rubbing. The coupes have a slightly larger wheel well though.
