Okay, so i dropped my civic on koni yellows and tien s-techs. went to get the alignment and i have toe issues in the back on both sides. drivers side they say is bent? and the passengers side is frozen so they couldn't align them. ill post up the slip when i get home friday for the numbers. what do you guys think this might be? and what needs to be done/replaced.

On the other hand, i want to go lower. and i also had it slammed at the end of winter, and it snowed after and it was annoying, so i wanna go coilovers, so im pretty sure ill need camber kits, and maybe new lcas? so these will help out some of the alignment issues, but i don't know how the toe is adjusted.

the rear toe isues are VERY WELL KNOWN!!!!!!!

you have several choices... some people use a torch on the bushings to burn them out... the problem is the bolt shaft and the bushing metal shaft both seize together and only way you can spin the bolt to loose the rear nut is to twist the whole bushing around and bust it all up.

or you can cut the arm out... thats what ive done many times now. mainly because i dont want to risk setting my car on fire.LOL to no torch for me!

another downfall is if that bolt is seized you always have a high risk of the other bushing on that same arm is also seized....
on 2 civics ive had 4 rear toe bushings seized. on my 94 i had 3 seized only 1 of the spindle toearm bolts came loose. and my 99civic also had one.

its also very likely that your suspension bushings also can seize so if you got lucky there and you didnt have any problems if you havent use ANTISEIZE lubricant on the bolts threads and shaft then i highly recomend that you pull those bushing bolts and put that antiseize on them before they posibly seize also...
road salt is hell on bolt/bushings making them seize up solid!

i had big issues with my 94civic being so seized i had to end up welding the stock toe adjsuter nut solid and using aftermarket adjustable toe arms.
so if you think youll change up your suspension from time to time i would go ahead and buy aftermarket adjustable toe arms. i used WICKED arms on my 94. so if your bushings ever seize again its no problem since the whole arm is adjustable

these are some pictures of my cutting
REMEMBER ANTI SEIZE IS YOUR BEST FRIEND to prevent this from happening again in the future.








two ways i did it first one i just used some vis grips on after choping out most of the bushing with a cut off wheel. and second one i did i grinded the bolt into a square shape to hold the vis grips better and i even cut it down a bit more to fit a wrench to make it quicker.












hopefully those pics can help ya out a bit or at least give ya a game plan....

bolting the new ones in are very easy. a good cutoff tool and air compressor is your best friend IMO fo rthe job.
i also had to use a big break bar to bust the rubber bushings off from the metal shaft that awy you can turn the arm around back and forth. just remember to loosen it not tighten... it will bend the outter adjuster metal BUT thats nothing... its just metal afew simply taps with a hammer when your done and it will bend right back! i ended up cutting mine alittle as you can see but nothing a welder cannt make as good as new.

and on a side note... if ya slam the civic quite a bit in the front then i would recomend not to get upper adjustable Aarms. since the adjustable ones are alot thicker and alot more prone to bottoming out on the upper strut towers. i like this guys problem pictures.... its defiantly changed my mind about reusing my skunk arms.

i love it that low.... not his chop job.LOL but i have seen some nice caps welded in... thats what i plan to do to mine if i slam my 96 that low

Id say go ahead and get some new LCA's and see if that helps with the "bent" issue you have. I had some Blox ones I liked. Camber kit and LCA's should have you fine. Its weird that they are having trouble since the S-Techs arent even much of a drop.

well the stechs dont drop to much but enough to eat the tires up fast if the toe is not set properly!

this is the spec sheet i got from my 99civic with that one seized bushing on the passenger side.

forgot to say but using a rear camber kit will work great. but with Stechs the washer trick will work just fine. but if you go lower than stechs then id definatly get some rear camber arms. i dont know why buy the rear camber from lowering is nuts compared to the front!

WOW, you're so much help, lol. alright so brand wise, is blox a good company for front and rearcamber kits? and the rear camber kit is the same thing as toe kit correct? lol. and same for blox lca's.

*EDIT* just saw plethorics post, it got hidden lol. so blox are decent then. i may do this as soon as i get the money, but may need to do it sooner because of the toe issue.

NO.... the toe and camber kits are different... similar rods but 1 different end link.

i used wicked toe arm on my 94civic. worked great no problems other than the chrome finish got scratched up from my grinded down wrench i used to tigthen them up since thats the only wrench i had that fit them.
they make both a camber and toe arms but i looked on ebay and dont see the toe arms right now.


BUT a stock toe arm has enough travel for a slammed civic just fine BUT a OEM arm can cost just about as much as aftermarket adjustable ones.


o ya also with the rear camber arm.... you could also have that bushing seized as well.... maybe not but just a heads up that they MIGHT. my 99 civic had one seized and i busted the head off the bolt and that needed to be choped out and the other side just VERILY came out. i was hammering on it with the VERY STRONG air impact gun for about 20seconds before it actualy busted free and came out just fine. it suprised the hell outta me when it finally poped loose and came out.LOL

only good this is the rear camber arms are very easy to chop out! simple sawzaw cut it out very fast and easy. i just welded a cut to the end fo the bolt and simply unscrewed it and used a new bolt.

haha, no worries, on the whoreing, as long as im learning, it all good. and it is kinda cuz im addicted to low. lol

okay so if i have a little bit of money now, rear camber kit, rear toe kit, lca's and front camber kit, all BLOX. would be good to get and install, then hopefully a few paychecks later, order GC's? and while installing those, that should fix my issues at the same time as prepareing to go lower.

well if you have the stock steelies then i would highly suggest pulling your nice wheels off and slapping them on until you get that toe fixed and alignment done otherwise it will eat thru your tires within the month youll be seeing steel belts.
my friend went thru 2 sets of tires because he was to lazy to get a alignment after i swapped suspensions on my 94civic i had.
unless you like spending quite a bit more for new tires for your rims....

and ya i know exactly what ya mean by addicted to low... the HP and Stechs started my love for low......

your best thing is you already have the koni yellows and those are great! i love my ground controls... only thing id like for them before i install them again is the extended top hat mounts for them. im gonna realy slam my 96 even lower than i had my 99 before. and ill also buy stiffer springs since ill be so low.
