So it sounds like you just want to put a bigger tire on your stock wheel....correct?
If so....it's not gonna work... For 2 reasons, first, the stock wheel is not wide enough to accommodate 235mm's of tire. Secondly, it's too tall, almost an inch.
Now, if your gonna replace tires AND wheels...consider a 7.5 wide, and maybe a 225, instead of a 235.

Best is such a brod term, the stock size tire is the best for ride quality and lack of road/tire noise but I can name a couple reasons a different tire size is needed. Also you would be hard pressed to fit a 235 tire under a civic, actually you are pushing it at 225

bringing this thread from the dead, i have aftermarket 16x7 wheels on my 95 coupe, and with traction problems from the turbo, im looking to go bigger tires too. since a 7" wheel can fit a 225 width tire, do u think id have problems rubbing? looking at 225/50/16's on the front, and keeping my 205/40/16 on the back. thanks!
