So it sounds like you just want to put a bigger tire on your stock wheel....correct?
If so....it's not gonna work... For 2 reasons, first, the stock wheel is not wide enough to accommodate 235mm's of tire. Secondly, it's too tall, almost an inch.
Now, if your gonna replace tires AND wheels...consider a 7.5 wide, and maybe a 225, instead of a 235.

Best is such a brod term, the stock size tire is the best for ride quality and lack of road/tire noise but I can name a couple reasons a different tire size is needed. Also you would be hard pressed to fit a 235 tire under a civic, actually you are pushing it at 225

They are quite wide, the tire will have that "pinched" look, and the sidewalls will be rolled, rounded, instead of flat. If you have to have a wider tire....get new wheels.

bringing this thread from the dead, i have aftermarket 16x7 wheels on my 95 coupe, and with traction problems from the turbo, im looking to go bigger tires too. since a 7" wheel can fit a 225 width tire, do u think id have problems rubbing? looking at 225/50/16's on the front, and keeping my 205/40/16 on the back. thanks!

btw, its stock ride heigh, no lowering
