Default 195's on stock steelies?

I was just wondering if putting 195/60's on the stock 14 inch steel wheels on my EX would work. I know the stock tires were 185/65, but I'm basically wondering if the 195's would fit, considering i don't have the money to drop into new wheels, but want a bit more traction. The speedo would stay about the same, I just don't know if they tires would fit on the wheels and if they did I don't know if it would look weird or not. If anybody knows if this would work or not just let me know.

Thanks, Evan

yeah, I just did it. Mine are on alloys but they're the same size, 14x5.5. I wanted Azenis but they don't come in 185/65/14, only 195/60/14. The difference is something like .5%.

Yes, they will fit. Just got these on my steelies. (195/60HR-14 Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position)

They are a lot better than the factory tires.

Any tire for me will be an upgrade (I'm running the old crappy $30 Pep Boys wonders that the dealership put on...) I was looking at the Yoko Avid H4s considering they were the only real decent tire in that size, but now that opens up a lot more options if i can run 195's on them.

Just out of curiosity MXS, you are running the 615's right? I'm pretty sure that those would be wayyyy out of line on my car considering I need something that will work in occasional rain, plus possible snow?[&:]...I'm thinking more along the lines of the Ziex.

Thanks for the help,

Evan

hah, actually I'm on the 215s (bought them used -- you can't get them anymore) but I am only using them for autocross, not running them on the street. Haven't had to try them in the rain yet

195's actually were an option from the dealer on some ex's...I know my ex had 195's stock. Ziex are perfect in the snow or rain...have them on my minivan and that thing can move through 2-3' of snow like there's nothing...I'm planning on azenis over rota's when I get all of my suspension and brakes done...but than again I have an extra set of steelies with mismatched tires for the bad weather....lol
