yeah, 215 is the width and the 2nd number, 45, is the percentage of the width to the sidewall i believe...so it will be slightly larger and will rub

I had the same problem here a few days ago. A guy that works at the local Honda shop had an interesting fix if you don't mind chipping some paint. Take a baseball bat to the fenders in the rear. Best way is to jack the car up some and insert the bat, lower the car and use the tire as leverage to "roll" the bat so it bends the fender in above the tire. Cheap, easy and I haven't had any rubbing since then.

That's the "cheap" way to roll your fenders...i've read mixed reviews on doing it this way...some poeple ti works fine, some people do it and it messes up their paint and scratches their car. depends on how good you are at it.

They have a tool that actually does that. shops will do it for you for maybe 20-40 bucks i'm guessing...

A 17 inch wheel on any civic is easy....offset is your problem, along with the 215/45/17. As stated, it should be a 205/40. 17x7 is ideal, but not popular with the manufactures, most build 17x7.5. The offset (backspacing) should be at least +42mm. No more rubbing problems, lowered or not....I promiss
