Default "14 vs "15 opinion's wanted...

Have an '02 Civic LX Sedan w/ stock 14's and am looking to put on '02 Alloy stock Si 15's......
1) How much noticeable will the ride be?
2) How will affect the gas mileage and the speedometer?
3) Believe the wheels will fit w/ out any problems......am I wrong?
Thanks in advance for your feedback....................Kenny

1. you won't notice barely at all
2. as long as you get the correctly sized tire, gas mileage will be the same
3. 14-17's can fit comfortably on your model civic

As long as you get the proper size tire then it wont be effected at all. refer to this site for more info www.1010tires.com Just set your car as the car, then search for tires, it will tell you the recomended size

who told you that? i wouldn't take advice from them anymore. changing from a 14 to a 15 is not even noticable, as long as you have the correctly sized tires, it will be the exact same ride height and everything as your 14's. and to get a 5 mph difference, you would have to run truck tires or something.

The diameter of the rim doesn't really matter. The overall diameter of the tire when mounted is what matters. I run 15x8 rims on my Wrangler, and you can run anything from like 29" diameter tires to 40" tires on that size rim. Speedometer error is also not in MPH, but in a percentage of over or under. You could have tires that make your speedo indicate11 MPHat actual 10 MPH, but it'll indicate 55 MPHat actual 50 MPH, for a 10% error. This is just an example, but it shows that you could read pretty accurately at lower speeds, while being pretty off at higher speeds. Car tires are typically not as wide-ranging in sizes as light-truck tires, but 10% error or 20% error is quite possible if you choose the wrong size tire for your rims.

What you SHOULD be looking at is the bolt-pattern of the rims, the offset of the rims, the center-hole size of the rims, the rim-size of the tires you want, the width of the tires you want, and the overall diameter of the tires you want. This will ensure that the rims will mount to your car properly, that the tires will fit the rims, and that the tires won't rub throughout the range of suspension and steering movement. If you had oversized brakes, you'd want to take that into account as well.

If this is all compatible with your car, gas mileage and ride would be most affected by weight, tire inflation pressure, tire width, tire rolling resistance, and overall tire diameter. It sounds much more complicated than it is.

i don't think "oversized brakes" will have anything to do with this considering he is upgrading from 14 to 15
