Lookin for radio/speakers

if you could post a pick of the plug from your radio, I can tell you if it is the same plug as the new pioneers.
also if you are looking at the lower end pioneers, the magnets are really small, and should fit in the stock location with absolutely no mods. just wiring, and if you get the speaker harnesses its extremely easy

Yeah, I'll try and get a pic up of the whole set soon.
As for the pioneer speakers, on the pioneer website, they were the lowest end speakers of what they had up. I still gotta measure the rear and front speakers, I think they're different sizes (?)
But cronic, definitely let me know what you find

Here are some pictures of my head unit. I hope I did this all correctly. Took me a while.
Head Unit Front: Pioneer DEH-42 Super Tuner III
Back of radio.
Terminals. Left goes to the car, right goes to the radio. Wires are all spliced correctly and clamped fine.
Also measured rear and front speakers, without taking them out though, they all seemed about 6.5" diameter.

thats definitely the old style Pioneer plug, so whatever radio you decide to get you will have to redo the wiring harness for the new plug from the new radio. and I would recommend putting zip ties around the wires when you are done so that theres no random wires hanging all over the place. I'm sure you can get new crimp caps at an auto parts or a home improvement store.
Its going to be extremely hard to find that exact radio, and even if you do, its so old that I dont recommend it at all because you will probably have problems with it too. I would just go out and get you a brand new radio. Pioneer makes a couple that retail around $100 (DEH-2000MP or DEH-3000IB), and are just basic radios that will be very reliable. Another personal favorite is Alpine, and their lowest radio (CDE-9874) retails at $150, so you will pay a little more, and its only a 45x4 while the Pioneer is 50x4. Also these are just retail prices and you can probably find them all cheaper somewhere

yeah I was planning on getting a new radio, I haven't been able to find a plug anywhere for that harness. Not even at a few different audio stores. Now I'm just trying to make sure I get the right sized speakers and find a new radio.
If I get the alpine, will I need a filler of some sort for the extra 5cm (I'm assuming the 45x4 was a cm measurement), but it's a guess.
If you see any cheap ones, lemme know. I think I'd even trust ebay for these radios probably.
For the wiring harness of a new radio, I have a bigger terminal (the female side of the larger one in the picture), that would still work for the new radio, right? I'd just have a new set of wires I'd have to splice and crimp?

I have a Kenwood cd/mp3 player thats a year old, but I ust put a new faceplate on it. you will need to buy a harness(ebay has them for buy now $1) and it comes with a remote and its a great unit. model kdc-mp732, lmk, and good luck

All of the aftermarket radios that you can buy will all be the same universal size.
Yes you will re-use the bigger female plug (the side that plugs into the car). That piece works no matter what radio you have. When you get a new radio it will come with a male harness that plugs into the radio. All you have to do is match up the wire colors on the two harnesses and crimp them together.

Ah ok, I see now. Thanks for clearing that up, I'm really new to this stuff so...
Looking on ebay for some units now.
Y2k, how much would you be wanting for the piece and where do you live?
***Just bought the pioneer DEH-2000MP on ebay for about $60, no longer need one.
Still looking for cheap speakers!
