i thought the tool would have made a smoother edge it looks like you used a hammer.also can you get the edge completely flush to the fender with this tool????????

well mine looks alot worse because one the metal is cold and im to lazy to heat up the metal and paint.
and second the paint was chipping and flaking off like crazy on the drivers side!!!!! cars been repainted and like most cheap repairs they didnt prep that area on the lip so the paint looks worse than it really is on the metal..
this is the passenger side.

it looks alot better if the metal is warmer since it bends so much easier. but i was just to lazy to heat it up and in a rush its about 40degrees out. when i did my old black civic it was warm out and it bent very easily and alot cleaner looking.
one reason why they recomend keep heating up the area.
i just dont care that much for my silver civic since i still have alot of paint work to do.

you could use a hammer or pipe method like some people do BUT its really risky to bend the exterior sheet metal which looks very bad! you want to bend the inner lip and nothing more.
and you could bend it near flat but its not needed to be that flat... i have mine bent to about maybe 1/4inch now, and your first few rolls your bending the outter lip upwards to roll it. so even if it does touch it wont be a sharp edge but a rolled edge.

bending metal is never perfect the first time. if you want it perfect you get a hammer and dolly with some different tips and hammer shapes and work at it...... but its all hidden anyways so doesnt have to be smooth looking.
