I must be completely out of touch. Why does someone need a computer in their car and what makes the computer specifically suited for this purpose?

 

lol that made me laugh, but yea why do you need a big @ss computer for your car? unless you plan on like running your own navigation system or something.

 

But in this case wouldn't you opt for a small laptop or a dedicated GPS better yet?

 

There are a number of reasons to have a PC in your car...one of the reasons is real time data from OBD2, an accelerometer, GPS, and a multitude of sensors that you can come up with. Also that effectively cures your need for an MP3 player, internet, DVD player, etc. It is also cheaper (usually) than an indash DVD player/GPS that is limited in functionality.

Things that are unique to a car pc: 1) power supply is a DC to DC type with some interesting power options. 2). Low power consumption 3) small footprint 4). vibration resistance ... etc.

 

figured i would bump this and its not big at all it fits inside a cd chager case and has many other mounting places you could put it...and anything you could do with a pc it can do.....i have about 20,000 songs a few thousand music videos, GPS, internet, phone, everything tied into that...much better than anything out there

the screen isnt working....well the screen works the touch part of it isnt so i wont inlcude that in it and im not selling the bezel as i am going to build another one.
