True story^

My very first car, that I bought for a grand at 16 years old, was an '88 Toyota Camry with a v6. I beat the living **** out of that thing on a daily basis. I drove it for two years without ever changing the oil (it leaked oil so bad that it was getting a new quart every other day anyway...) Oh yeah, and it had 185k on it when I bought it, and when it finally died I was at about 237K. Toyotas can DEFINITELY take a beating.
