my tuner runs a 12.3 n/a k series in a 92 civic hatch, those motors are absolutely insane, but isnt the point of racing to see whos got the best motor?
and how much whp does a car need to run 9.3? lol i know a guy with a 660whp b18c5 eg hatch and i dont even think hes running that fast

RE: K-Series Weight Penalty - Special Interview With Clutchmasters Team...
The weight penalty happened when the Clutchmasters car went considerably faster than the competition repeteatedly. Funny thing is, as soon as they created this penalty the Clutchmaster car hasn't even been competitive due to them breaking trannies because of the extra weight.
Also, they went 9.3 which caused the weight penalty. Later on in the year Tony Palau (sp?) went 9.1xx at something like 158, he's running a Bseries setup.
The reason they put the weight penalty in is so that SFWD can stay competitive. Not everyone has the money to change over to a Kseries setup and with so much more potential they are just trying to keep things as fair as possible. Unfortunately the only thing this did was lead to controversy and a whole crapload of rules to follow.
Didder, they're making ~850+
