Well yea I guess it would be functional if when it rains you wouldn't get water in your exhaust.

A. The heat from the muffler will surely mess up the paint on the hood
B. Will melt plastics by the motor
C. If it rains, water will get into the engine compartment and may cause shorts and other problems (such as rust)
