Pulling apart the old gaming rig, wanna get new parts, any cards/chips I should look into? I really only play Battlefield 2, and Half-life 2. Anyone have a Core 2? How is it? haha I hope at least one person knows what im talking about...

RE: Anyone have an intel Core 2?
My father just got a new core duo for his house and it is pretty quick. I only checked my email on it but the unit was pretty impressive. I do know that the intel chip boasts something like 40-40-40... 40% quicker 40% cooler and 40% cheaper

My dad (who work on servers for a living) always tells me that you don't really need a super fast processor for gaming. He says the key to a good gaming computer is an absolutly amazing video card. If your going to build a new gaming rig, make sure you get a motherboard that supports PCIE and a really good PCIE video card. Get a good processor but you don't have to go all out. Also make sure your monitor has a good refresh rate.

Clock speed really depends on what type of processor. What do u have right now? I'd say a Geforce 7900 or Ati X1950 and 2G of RAM. I cant see the pic very clearly but ur motherboard looks kinda old.

well ya it overheated and crashed, i think the mobo is toast. I have a intel p4 3.0 GHz. 1MB of Corsair, ATI Radeon X850 XT AGP (agp sucks!) and HD is running 7200 rpm. The mobo is old, its a intel D865 PERL is you know what that is, its from a few years ago.
New set up, CROSSHAIR mobo
intel 2.4 GHz Core 2
Nvidia 8800 video card PCI-E
OCZ ram 2 gigs
better cooling! maybe liquid
and a Western Digital 150 GB hard drive at 10,000 rpm

Asus crosshair? If so that's a AMD motherboard, you'll gonna need one that supports Intel, but ASUS is very nice though. For HL2 and BF2 the GeForce 8800 is overkill (but it's very fast and expensive). Also, I wouldnt recommend Western Digital for HDD.
