Default Turboing Stock d16y8

I have made a few other posts about my ideas on my performance upgrades and now I'm thinking about turboing my stock d16y8 with no interal upgrades since if something goes horribly wrong then I can get a new one for about $300-600 off of ebay. I'm still considering this but is there anything that absolutly needs to be upgraded like the clutch or something before I add boost or do you guys think that turboing a stock car with 150k miles it just a stupid idea? Also I plan on about 5-7 psi and would I need to use 91+ octane after I get the turbo or will regular be fine?

Edit: I was going to put together a turbo kit from pete's list, with a ball barring turbo. Good idea for someone fairly new to turbos or not?

It will be a learning exp. for you. I suggest getting a leakdown test done on your engine before anything.

A leakdown test checks that your rings are in good shape. A normal shop should be able to do it.

PSI is such a overused term, 8 psi on a t25, t3, t28 is different alot than 8 psi from a T70 or a GT42R.
