hey guys. within the end of the month, im getting my turbo kit from a friends b16 hatch Si. my question to you guys is after i buy the kit off him, i'll be dirt poor for at least 2-4 weeks before i get a couple paychecks. now, i know that a tune is very important. should i buy the kit, then wait to install until i have enough money to get a tune straight after? or is it safe to drive around not tuned? thanks!

depends. What would you be using for fuel management for the time being? If its a boost reliant FMU and a missing link, you would be OKAY, but watch the WOT pulls, as im guessing you dont have a wideband to keep a close look on the A/F ratio. Honestly, Id wait and do it the right time, but with that fuel management you would be good for like 5 psi and easy driving, you can boost, just dont go too nuts.

 

yea, i already put the missing link on, and he's giving me a FMU as well. so i should be ok just as long as i dont push it too hard? thanks pete, i appreciate it!

 

yea it should be okay, but i woulnt push it. Definetly get a chipped ecu or something better for the longrun.

 

anything to worry about with vtec?
