yeah intercoolers are like $600 for a SMALL one.. not counting install time/coolant/extra parts needed..

Went to the track tuesday though.. I'm thinking I don't need one now..

I have a cold air intake/3" downpipe/high flow cat/ported front exhaust manifold..

and I ran a 14.378@94.69.. 53 degrees, 55% humidity.. perfect racing conditions..

I take it this is a roots blower? When talking roots and water injection, it gets tricky. You have to inject the water after the blower for it to have any real effect, plus you don't want to spray water on the compressor blades.

I'm running a two-stage Coolingmist water injection kit and I've been really happy. Each stage is activated by different boost levels and it dramatically drops charge temps. Not only does water injection cool, but the water dropplets that make it into the cylinders (when nozzles are placed closer to the motor), it slows combustion in aid to prevent detonation. A third thing WI does is it steam cleans the internals of your motor. I'm running mine on a car with a centrifugal Vortech blower that has plenty of charge pipe to work with. My WI kit cost about $350.

I've run this setup on the street and during HARD canyon runs on 91 octane with now detonation while running 26 degrees of advance timing. On the track (road course), I combine this with 100+ octane fuel and I have had no problems.... Provided the water injection does not quit on you.

or you could run straight pure denatured alcohol... it will raise the octane level significantly allowing for even more agressive timing curves

its easy enough to wire in a map sensor and or a hops switch to activate the system when you want... if you have a aftermarket ignition system you can even incorporate the two so if for instance you run out of alcohol or if something goes wrong and the injection system is not working the addtional timing will not be added.

food for thought
