Let me add something on a subject of BOV's.
A purpose of a BOV is NOT to make a cool wooshing noise. It is there to prevent compressor surge by evacuating the air out of the charge piping when you slam the throttle shut. The sound is created when there is a restriction in the flow of air. Do we like restrictions? When it comes to our exhaust we do not...so why do we like a restriction in our BOV?

Also, another big thing I've learned. When it comes to cars, you're going to learn so much through reading, after that a lot of what you will learn will be on hand learning through building, trying, succeeding, and failing.
