Default Peicing together a turbo Kit.. Need help!!!

Ok,

I keep seeing everyone say build ur own turbo better for cheaper..

Well no one includes sites or anything i should be looking for .. i have seen the shopping list but that is only a guide but with no specifics and being a noob im gonna have issues with building my own, since its not going to be a bolt on ready
to go kit.. so im gonna start posting some links here using primarily ebay found packs.. need some of the guys on here to know to please give input on what is good and any parts i might be missing.. i am going to start with the basic stuff that i have found.. please let me know what else or pop in a link if you can without violating any rules.. on what i would need..I am only looking for the cheapest getting started kit .. my comparison that i am working with is the >>Greddy TD04H-15G Kit I will upgrade later but i want the base kit to start that can be used without needing a tune until i get the kit finished and ready for tuning. Thanks for any input you guys can give..

Piping/Manifold/Bov/Wastegate/IC

What do you think?

T3/T4 Turbo

Apexi Safc

Will this turbo work on D16 with the above kit.. if not please give me a link to one that will or what i should be looking for as a noob.

Alright dont hate but did searching and found Petes post Turbo List is this accurate enough to use for my D16 setup to include everything.. and with the Piping kit and such i have listed above is it a decent quality part?

that kit that you are piecing together looks good for low boost applications almost stock... so if you arnt gonna be pushing 15+ psi you should be good...

if your gonna turbo do it right the first time or youll end up spending a lot of money....dont get the safc...that 250 for the safc you could save at least 150 to 200 more and get a hondata....those ss auto chrome cheap ebay manifolds will crack faster than you can ever run in the quater mile... i have some friends with realy bad experience with those cheap ebay manifold..and some of those ebay turbos wont even last....the oil seals in there will bust soo fast...my friend put one on his car and it busted realy quick...we didnt even work the turbo cause he had to break in the motor...but one of my other friend ran an xs turbo until he got his original fix and it worked ok...i guess its just on your luck...me and my buddys turbo charged a lot of motors..the motors and parts that we spent good money on out lasted the cheap ones that we bought and performs better...i bought a turbo from ebay that was a v-band greddy internal ball bearing before i purchased a sc61 and it was the same size as the sc61 but it didnt even start spoolin until i hit 2nd gear then the oil seals busted at only 3 weeks after i installed it..but the sc61 got 6 psi boost at around 45 to 5 thousand rpm on my ls vtec..and i got a warranty for it...i ended up spending 1200 for both turbos.. i would of spent less money if i started off doing it right....lose the safc go hondata...you can find the hondata on ebay for realy good prices and they work cause we bought some and they work good...

What do you mean by you have emissions? If you mean you have to smog your car I wouldnt suggest doing a custom turbo cause it will no way smog. Greddy make a street legal kit.

thats why i posted elsewhere to just buy one of the starter greddy kits with Emanage for 2k.. which i thought was a good deal for something i can install myself and know that its quality.. with warranty.. then build from there .. but most people say that greddy kits arent worth it.. of course the greddy for the DX is not a t3/t4 .. so might be a weak turbo TD04H-19T Turbo.. before i get any other posts saying what happens when i want more power,, i dont.. the most power i am still looking to gain is around 200whp which i was told Jeff Evans may still be able to do with OBD2 ecu .. at this point i am going for budget build since i am going to be changing jobs and doing the school thing .. and would like to have the option to still do some small upgrades down the road ..

So overall with what i am looking for power wise and cost wise (as stated by many on the site) D series is budget build.. meaning i can get the power i want without spending as much .. win/win for me.. after i have what i want i can just run it until something breaks .. then fix it a little better

Emissions testing from state to state are VERY diffrent. The emissions testing for CA and is VERY hard to pass with anything done to your car, even if its got CARB exempt stickers (yo still have to argue with the guys alot). But in a lot of other states, as long as you've got the cat in there and your tune is good, you'll still pass.
