octane booster
you know the octane booster stuff you can buy at auto parts stores and some gas stations? (the one ive seen most is made by STP)
are those unhealthy for your car at all? and how much performance if any do they add?

RE: octane booster
also, just a little side note...most of the fuel stuff (aside from the straight up octane booster) is made to clean out your fuel system not only boost octane...that isnt really a waste of money, but something that isnt really needed very often. If my car's motor was worth more, i would use that stuff maybe once a year. But since im building a new motor, that stock y7 can suck it up and keep drinking the dirty ol' 87 grade

RE: octane booster
More octane= bad for civic
A common misconception is that more octane means faster. More octane means the fuel burns more slowly. In a civic this isn't necessarily a good thing. If the fuel burns too slowly it will cause pre-detonation. The"explosion"in the cylinder will happen as the piston comes back upfrom bottom dead center and the burning fuelrams into the piston. You ideally want the lowest octane you can get away with.. In a civic's case 87... every once in a while premium to burn out old carbon build up.
