I don't know about d17's but d16's have forged cranks so just get it balanced I don't think you need it replaced. Remember with high compression and nitrous you are gonna have to run race gas... or convert to E85 which is 110octane.

Depends on your compression ratio, I think people running like 12:1 or 13:1 are okay with premium pump gas (91-93+ depending on where you live) but defiantly having high compressionAND using nitrous then you will have toHAVEto use racegas.

Are you going to be converting your fuel system over too? You dont wanna run dry nitrous, its just stupid. Youre fuel system is returnless, and wet nitrous requires a returning fuel system

ALOT of good info in here, definatly will be paying attention to this one as i was thinking of adding some Nitrous to my 96 d16. Whats with the returning fuel system, im kinda lost at that part.

Before i even do the nitrous, i will be doing an intake manifold swap, and i will also be putting in the high pressure fuel pump most likely, its a thread on here in the DIY section.

You know you're gonna need some sort of ecu management to run a different fuel pump correct?

Your car has a return fuel system, it means that there is a fuel line going both from the gas tank to the engine then back to the gas tank again. It is a good thing for nitrous/turbo. The original poster has a D17 and they have a returnless fuel system meaning there is just a fuel line going from the gas tank to the engine.= having to convert to return system to run nitrous safely... not worth it. IMO the only work you should put into a d17 is pulling it out to put in a k20.

nah it isnt that hard to put in a return fuel line system look at the manifold swap i will be doing that when summer rolls around.
