I, on the other hand, believe that lower compression is part of building a reliable F/I motor.

A lower compression engine will run cooler, will last longer (especially the rings), and be more reliable/easier on parts that a high compression motor with boost.

I'm not saying you CAN'T run high compression, but I don't think it's the proper way to do it.
I couldn't agree with you more. If your engine is going to do everything you just pointed out...run cooler, last longer and be more reliable, why take a chance on high compression? Unless you're made out of money of course and I KNOW that I'm definitely not. Low compression is the way I'll go. I'd like my engine to make it past the stop sign at the end of my street without going POOF! haha
