junkyard turbos?

man your lucky find a turbo anywhere around me, most owners are smart and sell them for like $500 depending on what condition they are in. Well if you can find one at a junk yard try to lie and tell the guy its like a radiator or something and then he wont charge you that much LOL
Edit- just looked at prices from my local junkyard and turbos are listed. They're only $55.

Yea I was about to say, I used to live in chicago and all the u-pull-n-pays up there only wanted like $50 for a old turbo. I dont think I'd want one of those tho cuz you dont know anything about it or how well it will hold up. I'd +1 on looking on differant forums for sale threads.

I got my turbo for 25 bucks off of my friend. We pulled it from a saab at the local pick-a-part. Its a garrett t3, which is a pretty good turbo for $25. Here are specs... .48 cold, .49 hot, .50 trim. If you could get one like that you'll be set.
Look for it on saab 9000's. And maybe on 900's (they might just have t25's idk)
Edit- Look for stock cars with after market couplings on/around the turbo. That is a good sign that they had the turbo rebuilt at some time. That was my condition. Just a heads up.
Oh but one sh1tter is that they almost always have terribly rusty wastegate actuators. They still work just look like poo.
Edit 3 lol- most turbos that come stock on a car are name brand. They will almost always be mitsubishi, holset, or garrett (air research brand is garrett as well)

**** ac. I don;t like ac anyway, and if you can't keep it its no big deal. Taking out the condenser and the compressor makes so much room in your engine bay. Its just real convenient having all that space, but if you really like ac you should be able to keep it with an hf.
