fully built gsr turbo
k so I'm just getting into the import scene and i purchased a '96 civic from by buddy. When i got it, the body was in excellent condition but the motor was shot. However it was a shot B18C1 with a t4 turbo. I took it to a well known auto shop immediately so that I can get my car built up. So far I've done a complete rebuild of the engine. I replaced the pistons/rods with low compression pistons/rods and i believe that compression ratio is 9:1. It was re-sleeved and bored out to a 2.0. The cams were flat so i replaced them with high performance cams. I installed a huge front mont intercooler and i also used a hks blow off valve. I needed a new management system so i used the hondata s300. the previous exhaust was fine and i think its 3 or 3 1/2 inches. i replaced the stock brakes with slotted rotors and brembo calipers. i need to change the back drums to disks, does anyone know how to do that or what steps i should take in executing that? last but not least i upgraded the suspension to adjustable coilovers and installed limited slip differentials. i'm around 320 whp and i'm running between 12-15 lbs of boost. i was thinking about upgrading my turbo, any suggestions? if i do, what boost psi range should i stay between? any suggestions on what i should do next? what do you guys think? is this a good start?

RE: fully built gsr turbo
Sounds like a pretty good setup. Question: what kind of safety systems are you running. Oil/tranny cooler, insulated fuel lines, silicone hoses, etc. That may be a good next step if you want to run a good amount of boost. T04 should be a good sized turbo to get some power from a Civic. What a/r is it? I was running a T04 .60a/r with a TD06 flange on a R33 and it was making plenty of power off the inline-6. Personally I'd do all your backups before you go too much higher. It will just cost you more if you don't.

RE: fully built gsr turbo
sorry to say.... but if your motor really is bored out to a 2.0, you would know alot more about everything inside.... i'm not saying you don't have it stroked out.... i'm just saying when people go through that much extensive / expensive work.... they know the little details.... or they got raped.... hopefully you didn't get raped. in order to make the b18 to a 2.0 you need a complete stroker kit and it ain't cheap.... it sure is bad *** though when you can get that kind of power hooked up to great traction in that little car... believe me, it's alot harder than everyone thinks to get your power hooked up to the ground for a consistant pull.
keep us posted on how your car is doing... maybe we can help out with ideas on "hooking up the power"

i made a mistake, i meant to write that i plan on boring it out to a 2.0. i haven't done that yet. how much do you think that would run? since i'm fairly new to imports and motors i'm not too familiar with all the specifics but my buddy made sure i didn't get raped. i'l get a list of all the details from him so you guys can get a better understanding of what i'm working. i'm not exactly sure what safety i'm running but i'll find out. until then what would you suggest? cuz i have the money to do all this stuff but i just need advice from people on here so i really appreciate you guys taking time to help me out. from what you know so far, does it sound like its going to be fast? i'm suppost to get it back from the shop in a few days. when i get it back ill also take some pics and post them

sounds good.... if money is no option, then what isyour main goal with this car?
-then we can figure out what kind of power/ enginesizeyou should belooking for.
- new internals for the stroker kit could be a couple g's....

RE: fully built gsr turbo
i already have low compression pistons and rods so if i want to bore it out to a 2.0 what should i do? it is currently b18c1 gsr vtec turbo but i was thinking about ls/vtec turbo, is that possible? would it be worth it or no?

in response to jetspeed333 "sounds good.... if money is no option, then what is your main goal with this car?

i guess i'm not too sure what my main goal is with this car. i own a 2001 jeep grand cherokee limited with 22's and custom paint with a few tvs, 4 12's and an air ride suspension so i'm used to just "cruising" around and kinda showing off. then i got a job at a car dealership and learned how to drive stick and fell in love with it nd bla bla bla. so this civic is just my fun car. i'll probably drive on weekends or when i wanna go out and street race. i guess i just want to be fast instead of looking fast like all the posers i've seen in S.D. and i want to compete with mustangs and rsx and evo, sti's etc. does this car have the potential to do that? how do police react when they see you? for example, if i'm just driving normal do you think they'd pull me over and make me pop the hood? ( my car is a 96 coupe with a 2000 si front and rear end conversion so it looks stock except for the fmic) do cops like to hassle racers even when they aren't racing?

You will be pushing it to get to a 2.0 on that engine with bore alone because you would need to go over a 85mm bore which will promote overheating, hot spots, and weak cyl walls. Biggest I would go would be like a 84mm or maybe a 84.5 mm bore which will put you at around a 1933cc or 1956cc engine(1.933 or 1.956 displacement) But IMHO your best bet is to stay 82 to 83mm on the bore and select a good turbo for it. I think from the sounds of it a GT35R would be at home on that setup
