Default d16 turbo

ive read and searched for a post on the year or generation of my car, but havent found anything. i have a 1989 civic si and im startin the research on building a turbo kit. and i know the basics of the actual turbo kit, but i want to know what would be some good upgrades before the actual kit. because it is an old engine and has close to 200k miles. if it is as simple as being the same as newer generations then jus lemme know. if not any ideas or comments would be awesome. also if u could list a couple of good part sites that would be great. i can find the manifold, exhausts, intercooler, turbos, but where would i look for oil lines, bigger injectors, and smaller parts like that.

Here's what I suggest.

OBD0 to OBD1 swap. www.rywire.com www.boomslang.us (personal experience, go with boomslang if you can. Rywire is good but this area seems to have a curse of getting crappy harnesses from them?) Reason for this is it will open up your tuning options CONSIDERABLY.

Depending on how serious you want to be, you can either build your engine or just look around for a mid mileage VTEC SOHC or something like that. Make that decision before you swap harnesses though, you will need to know what engine is in it. Building a Dseries can be cheap, but it depends on what "cheap" is for you. Also depends how much power you want, stock Dseries can hold roughly 250whp without breaking on a good tune.

Injectors/oil lines/etc. Go to honda-tech.com and use the marketplace. You will find anything you need in there. Also, I would suggest that you read through the FAQ on this forum AND on Honda-tech along with searching key words and things like that that you want to learn about. Turbocharging a car is simple and complex at the same time, the system itself is easy but at the same time you need to plan ahead and figure out how to make all the pieces fit together and work properly.

Biggest part of the turbocharger setup is tuning. If you do anything, research this FIRST before you start buying parts, it will make or break your car.

Also make sure that you buy a clutch and install it either during your install or right after. A slipping clutch isn't much fun.
