Default boost controller

im installing my turbo kit tom it is an ihi out of a mx6 i was told it is set to 7psi from the factory i dont want to push it on my d16 i heard that a manual boost controller cant lower my boost under what the waste gate is set for is this true? i would like to run 3-5 psi on a daily basis mabey the 7-8 some weekends if i go to the track plz help

thanx do you know of any way i would beable to lower it b.c the turbo has an internal wastegate

what turbo do you have? Does the WG actuator hava any type of linkcage or adjustability on the arm.

i have the ihi turbo out of a mx6 it has no ajustablility
people were telling me to snap it and weld it shorter but i dont want to screw with it

get an externeal wastegate and the right manifold then set the internal wastegate really high so the external controls it.

the only way u would be able todo that is by takin off the turbin housing and welding the internal wastegate hole closed so it wouldnt /leak, the only other alternative would be to either convert to an external setup with a garret t-3 or t-3/t-4.


the only way of adjusting the wastegate on an interal WG is to adjust or pin the wastegate actuator closed so it wouldn open

Yes i believe you can shorten the actuator arm and it will not boost quite as high just dont move it much and you will be fine.
