bigolsackapoo's turbo build thread

I don't remember where I saw it but I saw a study conducted about dsm sidemounts. But at boost levels under 7 or 8 (cant remember) psi the sidemount yielded higher hp results. Less pressure is lost that a front mount. I'll only be 2-3 psi above that, so I think I'll be alright.
Plus remember that dsm's run 11 psi stock on this ic, with a turbo not too much smaler than mine. I have a friend with a plymouth laser, and he's running 16 psi on the stock sidemount with no problems. His even has a dent on one of the endtanks.
I also got a return line today, and I'll most likely be getting a oil feed line tomorrow. Its from Earl's High Performance Plumbing lol. Its on gasoline ally if anyone is familiar with indy; thats where some local tunning garages are as well.

Well what you have to remember is that its not about psi its about the amount of air, fmic recieve more air over the fins thus cooling the charge more making a denser charge therefore more air per psi, so at any boost level especially the smaller the turbo the more power a front mount will make, However I think on your setup your iats wont be that high and if your not trying for massive numbers you will be fine.

Yeah thats what I thought. I will upgrade to frontmount eventually, this is just for now. It should be alright the way I'll have it set up though. I'll have to atke some pics how the intercooler fits like a glove in the bumper. I'll also illustrate how I am going to direct air flow to it. After I get the exhaust manifold I'll be welding extra reinforcements on it all over the place, so it should hold up and not crack. But we'll see lol. I'll keep you guys posted.
Edit* I'm thinking about making a brace from manifold to the frame for super support lol.
Worth it, or do I want some play?

Yeah I believe it is an ss autochrome one or similar. But it should hold up fine after some reinforcements.
My trip to get oil lines is postponed untill tomorrow, but here's what I'll be asking for.
- 4ft of -3 stainless line
- A banjo bolt 7/16
- A banjo fitting
- One oil sending adapter. 1/8 bspt thread. With three ports.
- short braided line for return ( I all ready have flange, and its got 5 inches of pipe coming off.)
Suggestions or am I good?

an oil sandwich adapter is convenient for hooking up oil lines IMO also if you need any random parts, www.amstreetrod.com has LOADS of different fitting. Remember they're all pipe fitting measurements though
your valve cover looks super sick btw

Where can I get an oil sandwhich from? I was just going to use a tee. And I got my oil lines from earl's performance plumbing, which is a holley owned company. So any fitting or whatever I can get from there. As well as nitrous (NOS brand), charge pipes, couplers, gauges, you name it.
Thanks about the valve cover dude! More car pics-

Well, my ****ing manifold's flange for the turbo is the wrong size, and there is no returns for it lol. Luckily my mom is friends with a machinist, and he's going to cut off the old flange and weld on the correct one. As well as reinforcing the whole thing as he sees fit. Ebay is a bitch!!
