^^^^^ Holy ****. I'll be right with you has a broke @ss college student before long. lol. I am relying on my meager job to supply me with the necessary funds. Insurance on my motorcycle is half of what I paid for it, so I know how bad that sucks. Its going to suck *** when I'm a college student.

So my junk yard trip was a bust. I could not find anything there, and there weren't even any hatches for me to get some cosmetic pieces from. The only thing that I got that was worth while was an intercooler. Its just a dsm sidemount, but I think I'll use it. My reasons for using it would be that I'd have almost no charge piping (I already mapped it out). I would literally only have two pipes, a bov with pipe, and couplers. My reasoning is that I will be boosting super fast with this setup.

My second reason for getting it would be the "sneaky pete" aspect. I could hide it and retain my stock appearance. I put it up behind my bumper, and its freakin invisible.

My last reason is that it was only 10 bucks. Its in really good shape, and it only had about 10 bent fins total. Remember I say had. I got pissed trying to jam it into the wheel well and started slamming it. lol. I put a dent in the top plate. Luckily it was just plate on the top, and no air passes through it. It just bent another 10 fins. I feel like a tard.

Edit- I checked it for leaks, and there are none whatsoever. But that was before I slammed it. It looks alright, just a quarter sized dent thats about 1/8 inch deep.

Yea, chances of you finding a turbo or injectors at a junk yard are slim to none. best bet is to check HT, TD16, or a mitsu forum/saab/any other car that has a turbo you want. Many of them upgrade and sell their old ones. I have a set of DSM 450's and resistor box for sale

big, just remember... SMIC's are a lot less efficient than FMICs, and hiding it behind body work is a bad idea as far as flow goes. But as long as the EGT's aren't completely through the roof, you won't be melting cats left and right.

*edit: and sometimes when you're lucky you'll find a turbo at a junkyard, but not often. I'd say look around for guys parting out turbo cars like eclipse/talon gsx's.

I already have a turbo I'll be using, Its a t3 off of a saab (from a junk yard, but good conditionn). I was only going to the junkyard to look for injectors, an intercooler, and a bov.

As far as airflow, the intercooler fits right behind the side vent on the bumper. I plan on cutting it out, and then using flex hose to direct the air current straight onto the intercooler. I think that it will work alright for 10 lbs. Dsm's run 11lbs stock with the sidemount, so I think it should be alright.

Sounds like you've been doing your research to me.

You might want to check out that turbo first befor using it. You can't really tell the condition on the outside, besides oil residue around the center section. Just cleaning the insides with carb or brake cleaner would be beneficial. Especially if it's a turbo form a late 80's early 90's saab I'm guessing.

If oil is getting past the seal or the bearings look shot, might want to check out this site for rebuild kits http://www.gpopshop.com/rebuildkits.html

Well I cleaned up the turbo a lot. I got it nice and shiny on the outside, and I got rid of all rust (except for rust on the cast iron, but that is to be expected). I used pb blaster on the inside of the turbo, and then I used acetone to blast out all debris and gunk. It has very little shaft play and none in and out. I think that the turbo is good, and I plan on using it.

I've been thinking about charge piping, and I think I'll use pvc piping. It should work alright, as its meant for high pressure. I could get all of my charge piping for 5 bucks lol. I am going to be an extreme tight *** on this turbo build lol. I think I'll end up only spending about $500.

Edit- I'll try to get some pics of my crap up tomorrow.

you should totally use pvc piping and wrap some red tape around it so it will look like a candy cane, then you would have one sweet ride haha
