Its all in the tune. Stock internals are great, if tuned properly.

yes I do agree. You could have 10 psi and a ****ty tune and get like 200 hp and a crap engine. Or you could get a good tune and make 300 hp and your car run perfect! I know and it sux cause I really want a dyno tune but I don't know where to go!

Im not saying it CAN'T be done, I just don't think its a good idea, especially if it's your DD. Get the kit and run stock boost on a good tune until you can get your engine built. You'll still be quick as hell and on the SAFER side of things. What would you do if you melted a piston? Not to mention the money you're going to have to spend to get to 300 crank horsepower. Injectors, Tuning, Fuel management, Clutch and many other little parts that will add up to more $$$$$. What is your overall TOTAL budget you are going to spend for the project? Decide this first before you buy ANYTHING.

i agree with 97turbo it will lead to more and more upgrades. first your bottom end clutch, flywheel blah blah and if u don't have a stock lsd then u better get one of those if u want to race the damn thing.

that stage I clutch is only good for like 230 HP, good luck. If you wanna build a car, build it for about 25% OVER what you are going to push it, otherwise you're just asking for trouble.

300hp on a B16 is not to far fetched in a DD and reliably. People are at this point pushing 230 to 250whp with all stock D series on DD's with no problems and the B series dont have the small rod problems. Main thing will be to run a good amount of fuel to keep cyl temps down and to pull timing 1 degree for every psi of boost. 230 to 250whp on D series engines ='s a good 270 to 290hp at the crank.

What do you mean by ALLSTOCK? There is no way any bone stock civic can strap on a turbo and hit those numbers without stuff breaking left and right. How long have these so called cars been running with those setups?

By allstock I mean exactly that. Aslong as you have good fuel management, a good tuner, and good quality parts a stock well taken care of D16 will be fine over 200whp if it is taken care of. Tuning abilities are growing everyday, this is not the 90's people actually know what they are doing now. You keep a good air/fuel ratio, keep exhaust gas temps down, make sure to watch everything, and you can do amazing stuff. Jeff Evans tuned a stock D16 with nothing other than headstuds and got 270whp and the car raced for a full season, then he came back and Jeff tuned it at 300whp. It only lasted 7000miles on the 300whp tune but it made 100's of passes at 270whp which is well over 300hp at the crank and on top of that 100 passes at a strip is tons harder on stuff than even 75,000 miles on the street if it aint drove like a racecar all the time.

First off that clutch will be fine. Second off anything over a stage 1 clutch is going to blow my b16 tranny. I know someone who has pulled 300whp on a stock b16!!!! All I need to do is lower the compression with a thicker head gasket, then I can go from 7 psi to 10!

And it's all about the tune! If everything is tuned correctly (air/fuel/ignition/timing/etc) my b16 is going to pump out a lot of power with those stock internals.

I doubt I'll hit 300 whp cause I'm not that lucky and the guy I know who tunes I believe did that to a b16a2. I'll prolly hit about 300 hp to the crank.
