Default I can't decide...!!! Help Me...

Hello everyone. My name is Alex, i live in Los Angeles, and i just registered into this forum.
Since i've sold my gas guzzling, problem infested 1990 I-ROC Z, i've been in the market for a economical Civic (a reliable car for a change).
So far i've been researching and i've reached a conclusion on what to buy:

1992 Civic CX Hatchback
1996 Civic CX Hatchback
or a 1996 Civic HX Coupe
.

I'm leaning more in the economical trims for now since i just graduated college and i'm barely making some money right now,
but after my residency is finished, i'll be able to afford a B18C1 swap with boost.
I also would like to know which one is the best performer. Any suggestions and comments are welcome.

Thanks.

Alex

i thought the 92 cx hb was lighter (2095 vs. 2240 stated by Edmunds [don't know if it's a reliable source]).

If you want it mainly for speed, the hatch is lighter, and it'll take a B18C1 swap.

92. though a dx will end up being about the same weight, because you will end up replacing a bunch of the really small stuff on the cx that saves weight (read:brakes) so besides the little 70 hp cx motor, its about the same. but a dx is easier to find with AC, and even with the 102hp motor in my DX coupe, i was getting about 32mpg city, and over 45-50+ on the highway. oh, and if you find a VX, grab it, that sucker can get in excess of 40mpg CITY!!!

Thanks for all of your comments and knowledge people. I've decided to go with the 93-95 civic hb vx.

major plans right now is to:

do general/ major services (maintenance)
swap an oem moonroof
fix anything that's broken
99-00 civic front end conversion with jdm fog lights
99-00 civic si interior dash/ center consle/ 01+ si steering wheel conversion

and unless the gas prices go down, a b18c1 engine swap.

Sounds good?
