Experiences with the Type R
Hey all,
Since passing my test I've only driven slow cars and for the past 4 years I've been at the wheel of a 1.25 Fiesta. However now I'm a bit older, insurance premiums have fallen and I have more cash at my disposal I figured it was about time for a change. The Civic Type R is the car I'm considering but to be perfectly honest I don't have much of a clue about Hondas. I'm organising a test drive soon but I would appreciate any useful info from those who've had experience with the car, positive or negative.
Happy to be part of this forum.

RE: Experiences with the Type R
The Type R is to my knowledge a hatchback only. Then again, the Si would be a "Type R" kinda car and you can get those in Coupe, for those that doesn't like the HB version. We have probably around 40 HBs in different types in my town (only 17 000 people), and I don't like any of them. They are all more or less stock and not taken good care of. Mostly old cars.
I also know that there are 2 or 3 R-Type versions of the same car rolling around, and they are just as bad (to look at for me that doesn't like the HB) but man do they run fast. One guy have prepped the R-Type with HKS parts and some other things that he won't tell about under the hood and the car sky rockets on straight roads (a turbo is under there for sure because of the BOV sound). He won't admit it though. This guy is a close friend of the Honda dealer where I live and he formely lives at the shop.
I think you should get that test run and see for your self. Hondas are reliable cars as long as you take good care of them and I think you will be happy. As long as you like the HB look.

RE: Experiences with the Type R
The Type R I'm looking at is a hatchback, but like I said I don't know much about Hondas so I couldn't tell you if other models have been made or not. http://i16.ebayimg.com/03/i/03/71/4d/67_1_b.JPG
I arranged a test drive for a week Saturday, in the mean time I need to do some serious Honda bookworming Thanks for the help.
