Y8 to Z6

Y8 to Z6
Well I have my Z6 motor out and working on getting the Y8 out. I noticed the Z6 wire harness has 3 plugs on the passenger side and 2 on drivers side when unplugging to remove the motor. The Y8 only has plugs on the drivers side. Will Ihave to use the whole Z6 wire harness when I put the Z6(out of 95ex) into my 2000ex? Can someone give me some more info on what all I will have to use with the Z6 to make it run in my 2000ex? I really want to get my 2000ex on the road and this is holding me back cause no one seems to have an answer for it? I need to know everything that will need to be switched or wired up so that the Z6 will correctly work in the 2000ex.
Thanks to everyone who replys!
Tim.

RE: Y8 to Z6
dont worry about the harness just use the same manifold that u have on y8 move it over and put it on the z6 that way u dont have to worry about connecting anything like cutting off wires just use ur same y8 harness it'll work, cuz i have a 97 y7 and i put a z6 and used the y7 manifold and wired 3 wire to the vtec and it works fine

RE: Y8 to Z6
Cool. I guess I never even thought of that haha. Anything else that will have to be changed to get it to work? From the looks of it, I will have to use my Y8mounts on the Z6 when dropping it in other than a tranny mount cause Im converting from a auto to manual at the same time and will use the tranny mount from the z6 that already has a manual tranny attached. I have looked all over the place for info on switching the 2 motors and found nothing. I know there basically the same thing but I want to get the parts I need, if any, to finish this up.

RE: Y8 to Z6
your going to need an obd2b-obd1 jumper harness for the ecu. and the correct ecu which will be a p28, youll also need a z6 dizzy and dizzy harness adapter. u might have to make the dizzy adapter because of the dif. plugs on the dizzy's. its not hard to make the adapter. btw when removing all plugs remember to label so you know which **** goes where there are several plugs that look the same so label and save the head ache. If you need the jumper and ecu i have one i took out of my 96 civic when i went from y8-z6. let me know i can cut ya a good deal on it.

RE: Y8 to Z6
Why couldn't I just take the Y8intake mani, injectors, and distributer and mount it on the z6 using the Y8 harness and ECU and save myself the headache, money, and keep it OBD2b? Will this work fine or no?

RE: Y8 to Z6
well if you do that i think you might have to use the y8 head to because if you used the ecu it may affect valve timing but i know that a Y8 distributor wont work on a z6 head. plus there is no hole for a knock sensor on a z6 block.

HELP: PROBLEMS!!! Y8 to Z6
So heres the deal!
Right now I have a Z6 head and block with a Y8 wire harness, ECU,intake manifold, and distributor.I modified the distributor mounts and made it mount to the Z6 fine. BUT, the Z6 does NOT have a KNOCK SENSOR in the block unlike my Y8.Will this cause me problems and not allow the car to run or what problems will it cause? Also, the Z6 block does NOT have a crank speed fluctuation aka crank speed sensor unlike my Y8. What do I do about this?
Can someone PLEASE tell me what I will need to do now to get this to work or is it fine now? I thought I was completely done and planned on dropping the motor in first thing tomorrow and getting to finally drive it again but now my night is basically ruined!!! [:@][&o]

:::EDIT:::
After doing some research I ran across this post that will solve my Knock sensor problem. I now only need info on the crankshaft speed fluctuation?!?

RE: Y8 to Z6
alright before you go putting holes in the block listen. you dont need a the cranksensor or knock sensor on the z6. if you get a z6 computer and jumper harness thosae two problems will be solved. if you have the z6 ecu i will sell you a jumper harness for 40 bucks i paid close to 90 for it with shipping it is like brand new. no cuts nothing. everything will work and no need for the knock or crank sensor. and if you can get the y8 distributor to work congrats but i think your going to run into timing problems.
