Default wtf is up with this paint

well some ******* tryed to fit inbetween my car and another car at the gas pump and he put a hole in my quarter pannnel and scratched it all up, i took it to the shop and i just got it back, the quarterpannel looks nice but the paint looks all fish eyed and i dont think it has any clear coat on it at all, i drove it from the shop to home (4 blocks away) and alredy there is dings in the paint, what should i do? i dont think this guy has a real paintbooth, he just did it in his garage, my car is filthy dirty and im wondering if he just left the dirt there and painted over it? it just sucks because from my front door all the way to my back hatch is all fish eyed.

If insurance paid for the job, tell the insurance company it is unsatisfactory and needs to be done over.

Fish eyes are usually cause by impurities(oil) on the surface when it was painted. Any reputable shop will reshoot the paint.

this isnt too much of a reputable shop, the owner is an ignorant *******, when i first got the estimate, he sounded cool and ****, then i called him to see if he got the payment, he said yeah bring it in anytime, everytime i went to bring it down, he always had another project and made excuses, finally i said ok im going on vacation august 24th thru the 27th, i will drop it off then and come pick it up when i get back, he said okay. well im sleeping and i wake up to hear him on my answering machine saying your cars done, itll be outside, were all leaving. so 10 minuts later i go down to pick up my car and their all gone and my car is filthy dirty and the paint looks like ****, theres little dings in it and it looks almost like 1 layer of paint over galvanized steel, it just has a weird look to it, idk if its fish eyes or not, someone said it looks like orange peel. the guy was just an ******* over the phone everytime i called him so i think asking him to re-do it is out, i just dont know what to say. i cant be like fix it or i want my money back because i diddnt pay, and i cant take it elsewhere because they alredy paid to have it done. any ideas on what i should do?

I know I'm new here but here is my 2 cents for you.

Do you know if the shop used a 2 step painting prossess (AKA base coat, clear coat)? First step would be a base coat that has the color and a VERY mat (not shinny) look to it and a 2nd step that is the clear coat that gives the paint its shine? If so, look closely and try to tell if the imperfections look like there in the clear coat. If so, you can try wet sanding it down with some 1000 grit sand paper and then buff it out with some buffing compound. Just make sure you keep the sand paper very wet so you don't take too much of the clear coat off.

If it looks like the imperfections are in the paint it's self, there's not a whole lot you can do but reprep the area and repaint.

well the guying being a asshat was your first warning you didnt take... sounds to me like he didnt want to do it in the first place.

but if he did a horible job like that take it back and make him redo it and if he doesnt threaten him with court and take his *** to court and get your money back! AND TAKE GOOD PICTURES of his repair work so if you do go to court you can show how bad the job was and the judge should see how bad his job was and give you your money back!

if the paint is fish eyed he just didnt clean the area good enough before painting or had a ton of dust in the air like if he sanded it dry and then painted it instantly while dust was still floating around or not swept up before painting.
thats one reason why we always spray the floor down with water before we paint to keep dirt from being kicked up and into the paint.

you just took it to the wrong shop!!!!!!!! that guy was telling you F***OFF but you stuck with him. a real painter that carred about his customers would at least be there when you picked up the car and showed you his good work. you should have never taken the car off his lot if it was that bad!

well i diddnt really know anything, he sounded cool as hell when he gave me the estimate and i diddnt really think nothing of it after he made excuses but he was alredy paid when he was making the excuses, the other people dropped the money off already. i mean i can live with the paint, i want to get the whole car re-painted anyhow, i just think its messed up how he ripped me off after he got the money and i diddnt know what to do, he still has my spare key so when i go down there to get it, im going to ask him why it looks like that and see what he says, im going to try to get him to re-do it. thanks for all your help from everyone
