Wipers run dry

Wipers run dry
Hello,
I just purchased a '95 DX sedan yesterday and need to fix a couple of things. I guess that I'll start with the wiper issue. They run fine, but there is no fluid when the mister is turned on. There is fluid in the reservoir. I am thinking that I'll end up needing to replace the pump, but are there other things that I should check first that won't cost me as much. I haven't yet picked up a repair manual, but plan on it soon. Thanks for any help with this,
Andy

RE: Wipers run dry
Could be a bad washer motor or the lines or nozzles are clogged/disconnected. Information here should help:

Step 1) listen for the washer pump. It SHOULD be working, even if there is no fluid coming out. If no pump noise, check the wiring. There should be power. Power but no noise=bad pump. no power means bad switch
Step 2) blow through washer hoses...should be able to blow through them easily. If not they're clogged...
Step 3) Hoses clear but still no fluid? Clean the nozzles too! Its a lot easier to do this with a buddy to help you though (one to press the washer switch, the other to drink the beer and figure out whats wrong

RE: Wipers run dry
I narrowed it down to a bad pump motor. The lines allow air through and it also comes out the jets. There is also power through the electrical wires. Thanks for the help. Now on to new horizons .

Ron,
Quick question (if you know the answer). I went to the link you provided and would like to download the service manual. I own a '95 DX/LX, however, and am not sure if I need the SM for '92 - '95 or for '95 - '97. If you happen to know which I should reference, could you please let me know? Thanks,
Andy
