Windshield wiper problems!

Windshield wiper problems!
About a week ago I had my deck installed and ever since then my windshield wipers just work whenever they want. When i go over large bumps they just go back and forth a couple times. They dont settle in the correct spot, which is at the bottom of the windshile, instead they stop right in the middle. So basically they just go whenever they feel like it and they dont sit in the correct off position. Has anyone had this problem and how can i solve it?

Can you wiggle the switch lever and make it work? Someone may have busted your switch while they were working on the radio. It could also be the switch in the motor that controls the parking.

They work when i want them too just fine. Its when i dont want them to that they go. The switch is fine so im guessing it must be something on the motor like you said. Does anyone have any fixes i could try?

RE: Windshield wiper problems!
Turn the key on, tap on the motor (and switch and other parts) to simulate hitting a bump, see if the wipers start. If they do it would be simplest to swap out the part involved.
Could also be a short in the wires under the dash or maybe even the intermittent wiper module if your car has that.

RE: Windshield wiper problems!
I think that mk378's suggestions will reveal the problem component; however, if they don't, then:
You may be able to figure out whether the faulty part is the switch on the steering column versus the wiper motor by disconnecting the GRN/BLK wire at the wiper motor (if possible). This wire bypasses the switch and serves to park the wipers when you turn them OFF. Thus, you will temporarily lose the latter function when you do the test. If the wiper motor is faulty, then disconnection of the wire should eliminate the problem (wipers turning ON when you hit a bump). Conversely, if the switch is faulty, then disconnection of this wire should not eliminate the problem.
