Default Where is the ecu ecm on 98 civic lx?

Hi again. I don't know why this is so hard to find but I googled it a million times and can't seem to see a picture or a good description about how to get to the ecu or ecm or whatever its called.

I read somewhere that I can see the led light when I turn the key and it flashes some codes. I see nothing.

My car won't start and its driving me nuts. Thanks

No need for two threads. It's behind the passenger-side kick panel.

Thumbs up

^^ passenger side under carpet..I wouldn't immediately change ECU's if i were you. Its expensive and probably not the issue. I would check the ICM in the distributor cap, have a technician with knowledge of multimeter read the resistance between the ICM & ECU. Before all that we replaced the fuel pump which was unecessary, the outcome was slow cranks & it had oil in spark plug cylinders which I replaced. Good Luck

There's no carpet covering the ECU of a 98 Civic.

oh behind the kick panel..

ok sorry I'm new to forums and such but how do i get that black button fastener thingie off that holds it down?

I'm not trying to replace it but I saw another site that said to check for codes that come off of a blinking led light. Is that true? Or am I wasting my time?

You found instructions for a 4th generation Civic. You own a 6th generation Civic. You pull the CEL codes by jumping the service connector. Click the CEL link in my signature.
